Match Report
Berkhamsted School 3rd XV vs  Eton College
On: Saturday, 14 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

The scoreline does not tell the whole story. Eton were a very big and physical side and in the end scored a handful of tries in the last quarter of the match. The first half was an evenly matched affair and Berkhamsted were 8-0 up after 20 minutes. A great individual try was scored by Will Green. The organisation of the defence was really pleasing and the majority of the tackling was courageous. A few mistakes were made by us in the course of the last ten minutes of the first half and the opposition capitalised on them scoring three tries. If you make errors then you get punished. An injury to our No 8 upset our momentum early in the second half where we had pulled the score back to 11-19 with a well taken penalty. From then on it was a struggle as Eton put a good number of phases together to score some well created tries. In the end weight and power won the day but the boys can take heart from their first half performance. Looking forward to KCS Wimbledon on Saturday and hopefully our No 8 will be available because he was outstanding before he was forced off with injury.
