Match Report
Berkhamsted School 3rd XV vs  Radley College
On: Saturday, 01 Dec 2018
Venue: Away

I thought that the commitment and courage shown at Abingdon was extraordinary but the performance at Radley topped it. The boys were in front three times but sadly could not hold on to the lead which was most disappointing and frustrating. The opposition had a formidable pack of forwards but Berkhamsted's 'lightweights' gave as good as they got and how proud I was to see them take the opposition on. The times that we were camped on our own line and fended them off. Remarkable! The three-quarter line also played their part in this epic battle. All the tries came from the back line. Tilt, Roberts and the first try of the season for Harry Ned. Awesome.

One must remember that Radley had had an uninterrupted season where we had lost 5 games from the original calendar. Injuries have also played their part in the course of the season and once again we lost three players in this game. The reserves came on and played their hearts out. Looking back on the result two crucial errors on our part cost us the game. This was down to a lack of experience and playing time. They will not be made against Haileybury. Game management is so crucial. However, the structure that the boys showed was really encouraging. Great to watch and it was such a pity that a Radley try was scored in the last minute. They boys did not deserve this score line. So so proud of them.

Now for the last game. I am looking forward to this so much because it will be the last game of the season for this delightful group of young men. they deserve success because of their attitude and humility.
