Berkhamsted School U14 A v Abingdon U14 A 29th September 2018

After a good week’s preparation, the Berkhamsted U14 A team travelled to Abingdon School with fighting spirit. Abingdon got off to a good start scoring under the post after 5 minutes. Their large number 8 proved too powerful for Berkhamsted, who had a strong game scoring the majority of tries. Berkhamsted played well in large parts of the first half, controlling the ball in attack and working their way into Abingdon's 22. Unfortunately, like last week, every time Berkhamsted got close to the Abingdon try line, the ball was lost due to basic errors. Berkhamsted’s control of the break down proved a major issue throughout the match, often losing the ball due to not rucking effectivity enough. Abingdon’s counter attack was excellent, scoring three tries from inside their own 22 metre area. Berkhamsted showed great commitment in defence but Abingdon’s big number 8 and skilful inside centre proved too strong and they scored a number of tries between them. Abingdon’s defence was well organised and kept the Berkhamsted attack at bay until Adrian scored after good handling from the inside backs near the end of the match.

Berkhamsted displayed plenty of passion and were beaten by a strong Abingdon side. There were several injuries which hopefully will not result in players having to miss too many matches.

Thank you to all the supporters who made the trip to Abingdon. Next Saturday sees the team's first home game of the season, playing on Chesham Fields against RGS High Wycombe.
