Match Report
Berkhamsted School Boys-U15B vs  Abingdon School
On: Saturday, 19 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

Coming off the back of a very strong performance and important win against Harrow last week, it was important to carry that momentum into this week’s fixture against Abingdon. The match took place on the astro-turf pitch, which has significantly wider dimensions than the usual grass pitches. However, we utilized this difference to great effect, playing many balls down the wing to Archie T, a strategy that led to the only, and therefore winning, goal of the game. From the right wing, Archie chipped the ball into the centre of the box, where James S leapt up above their defence and managed to get his head to it, powerfully sending it into the top of the net. 1-0! Throughout the entire game, our defence was watertight (save when Ben O, in trying to clear the ball, sliced it over his head and towards our goal– not his finest moment!): cutting out both Abingdon’s long balls and their well-drilled build-up play, before sending a searching ball forwards to the likes of Ben T and Ollie L who would drive the ball towards their box, leaving behind many of the opposition on their way. Altogether a highly enjoyable game to watch from my position in goal! Thank you! – Orlando A.
