Match Report
Berkhamsted School 3rd XI vs  St Paul's School
On: Saturday, 16 Mar 2019
Venue: at Home

Another windy Saturday, another opposition with a strong reputation, another magnificent battling performance by the 3rd XI.

St Paul's took the lead as early as the second minute when a midfielder ghosted in beyond the back post to head in from a well delivered cross.

The equaliser in the 14th minute was a thing of beauty. A driving run from Max Shepherd, a neat interchange with Toby Lazeris on the right, Max then rolled the ball inside to Eddy Gentle who did what he does best and the keeper was left to collect it from the corner of the net.

The rest of the half (but for a chance for Max S, well saved by the St Paul's keeper) was defending stoutly as the visitors, pushed forward by the edge of storm Hannah, searched for a second.

The half finished level with all to play for.

Berko took the lead when a well delivered corner from Charlie Mann was won by Max Shepherd and in the ensuing melee Gabe Kempin shot home from close range.

Other chances came and went at both ends before the visitors finally equalised with 9 minutes left on the clock. A simple through ball with a runner beating the offside trap resulted in a cool finish.

Two yellow cards in the last few minutes, one for a cynical foul and one for a clumsy but dangerous challenge was disappointing but could not detract from another fine performance.

Th juggernaut rumbles on.
