Match Report
Berkhamsted School 2nd XI vs  St John's School, Leatherhead
On: Saturday, 26 Jan 2019
Venue: at Home

This was a fiercely contested game which entertained a good number of parents from Surrey and Hertfordshire respectively. Berkhamsted started well and took the lead from Chris's close-range finish. Our visitors grew into the game and were good value for their equaliser just before half-time. The game opened up in the second half, with Berkhamsted unable to match the cutting edge of St Johns, despite another close-range goal for Harvey. Particular credit should go to Morgan, who was excellent again in his unnatural position of left-back. The boys must learn some lessons from this defeat: training in the week must be intense, and players must be more organised with kit-there is no excuse for failing to bring shin pads; we will not win any game of football where we concede three penalties and therefore decision-making and discipline under pressure must be better; and, we must react better to decisions and seek to 'control the contollables', rather than losing our composure and blaming poor performance on others' decisions. Good sides bounce back, and the boys will have a fantastic chance to do this next week at Radley.
