Match Report
Berkhamsted School Boys-U13A vs  The John Lyon School
On: Saturday, 10 Nov 2018
Venue: Away

John Lyon was the first Bo-Bo electric locomotive used on the Metropolitan line in 1906, and it seemed rather like the Berkhamsted 13As were going to be derailed by the eponymous opposition, as they made a disastrous start: a goal down after a minute, and two goals down after ten minutes. Fortunately the boys began to work up a head of steam, and were back in the game when the Jack converted an excellent team move which had started at Archie’s feet. Sam M was very much the fireman in the engine room of the midfield and showed us all that he is capable of talismanic performances if he can maintain his composure. The boys were excellent in the second half, and scored 3 goals without response to earn a fantastic victory. The only sour note was an ankle injury sustained by the supremely reliable Adam at full back; it was due to his two goal-line clearances that we were able to cling onto victory, so it is with gratitude that we wish him a swift recovery. Full steam ahead for next week’s home clash.
